We are using a program called fingertip spelling. Students stretch out sounds of the words I dictate, tap the sounds out, then write what they hear on lined handwriting pages. This is as close as we can get to practicing our spelling like we would do when writing in writing workshop. We have listened for vowel sounds first. Now we are on to -ck at the end of a word.
At he end of each session, I say a group of words and we have to decide if it is a sentence or not. If it is a sentence, then we have to write it like a sentence with correct capitalization and punctuation. If it is not a sentence, we have to write it all in lowercase. This is just want we need to become efficient spellers! This takes about 15 minutes each day.
